The development trend of modern rolling mills is continuous, automated and professional, with high product quality and low consumption. Since the 1960s, great progress has been made in the design, research and manufacture of rolling mills, which has improved the performance of hot and cold strip mills, heavy plate mills, high-speed wire rod mills, H-profile mills and continuous rolling mills. A range of state-of-the-art equipment such as wire rod mills with a speed of up to 115 meters per second, fully continuous cold strip mills, 5500 mm wide slab mills and continuous H-section mills. The single raw material used in the rolling mill increased, the hydraulic AGC, shape control, electronic calculator process control and testing methods became more and more perfect, and the rolling varieties continued to expand. Some rolling mills with special structures suitable for new rolling methods such as continuous casting and rolling and controlled rolling, as well as adapting to new product quality requirements and increasing economic efficiency, are under development.
